Digipack front cover example

I found this Digipack after looking at an artist that i really like, i love this simple digipack and all though very different to ours the conventions reminded me of our digipack because it's very simple and it has a very stylized typography which is very different but then also is a kind of trademark of the artist which is the vibe we tried to create .

types of music video

There are three main types of music videos that are used by music artists in our contemporary music industry: Narrative Based, Performance Based and Concept Based. Each have distinct characteristics  with different purposes for how they will gain their audience's attention. The record label to whom the artist/band is signed wants them to appear as original as possible to other contemporary music artists, so they look for unique attributes within them which they can emphasise to give them a unique image and persona that will attract their targeted audience.
NARRATIVEBASED:
A narrative based music video contains footage that attempts to tell a story. involving actors, the story is sometimes linked to the lyrical content of the song. this is popular amongst songs in movies. a good example of this is 'Always' by Bon Jovi.

CONCEPTBASED:
This style of music video is based around a singe idea and tends to focus on a specific style of filming that would usually be unusual to use in normal filming. it's not often you see a purely conceptual music video as the commercial world demands things to be a bit more interesting/accessible. a great example is 'monkey drummer' by Aphex Twin.

PERFORMANCEBASED:
These videos feature the artist/band/group performing the song through most, if not all of the video. it can be argued that this type is the easiest to produce on a budget provided you are able to obtain a suitable/professional looking location. An example of this would be 'Best of you' by Foo Fighters.

Story boards

First Day of filming

Our first day of filming we went down to the brook and filmed a few shots of miming and some close ups it was fairly sunny so we got a nice look on the film the colours were really bright , however when we got back and uploaded we found that some of the shots had a lens flare on them which created a grainy look to the film. however the shots were still usable with a bit of tweaking on final cut pro. We also experienced trouble with the public getting in the background whilst dog walking which wasn't a big issue just meant we had to delay filming until they had gone.

Feedback from Target audience questionnaire

We found that between the ages of 10-15 the music they were into was more of a pop based background and 16-20 and 21-25 was more Indie and pop based which is interesting as our target audience is 15-25 meaning that we need a pop/indie style to our music video.  We also found out that more than 60% preferred narrative based music videos' because ' they were more interesting'.
