techniques and lighting

We watched this video just to refresh our memory on the camera techniques and when to use them, this is a really well made helpful video.

Next we wanted to look into 3 point lighting and we found this video which explains the lighting and the uses this was incase we did use the studio in which case we would of needed this lighting to create a crisp clear picture that looked professional.

Then I decided to look into lighting and I found soft lighting which when outside  is created by the sun being behind clouds this creates a look a bit like the above image, to create the same look in a studio you would need to put a soft box over one of the lights to get a softer edge and look to the photo or film. Hard lighting is when the lighting is very direct like if you were to be outside and it was a clear day and the sun was directly above you that would create hard lighting because it would be very shadowy and bright which i think we intend to use more than the soft lighting. The below image is an example of hard lighting where a lot of shadows are shown and the model appears to be completely lit up this would represent a very sexy intimate mood when used in a studio but outside would create a bright well detailed vibe.

This is a video i looked at to show how hard lighting can be used in a music video i think it makes a video like this look more dramatic as its quite simple and a soft lighting wouldn't work at all.

This is an example of soft lighting which adds a romantic feel to the video. The light looks kind of hazy which gives it a warm feel as opposed to the cold feel of hardlighting.
